LocalSeen vs Semrush
The full marketing suite versus the tool built for one local business. The gap is not features, it is who the bill is written for.
Semrush is the most complete SEO platform on the market, and its AI Visibility Toolkit is a serious product: daily prompt rankings, competitor research and a site audit built for AI search. If you run SEO for a brand, it is hard to beat.
It is priced that way too. AI Visibility is a separate add-on at $99 a month per domain, and map tracking lives in the Local toolkit at $30 a month per location, metered in credits where one map pin costs one credit. A single gym that wants both is looking at $129 a month before anyone has looked at a map. LocalSeen is $49 a month with both included, because that gym is the only customer we built for.
There is one coverage difference worth knowing before you choose. Semrush lists ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini and Perplexity. Claude is not on that list, and Claude carries roughly 13% of AI assistant traffic in the US, where asking for a product or service recommendation is one of its most common uses. We check Claude on every scan. We do not check Perplexity, and that is a real point in their favor.

What 375 credits actually buys
The Local Base plan includes 375 Map Rank Tracker credits a month. One map pin costs one credit, so a 5x5 grid is 25 credits for a single keyword. That is 15 grid scans a month. Track five keywords weekly and you need 500 credits, which is past the plan before you add a second location.
This is not a knock on Semrush. Credits are a fair way to sell a tool that agencies run across hundreds of clients. It is just a bad fit for one owner who wants to know, every week, whether the map and the AI answers moved. That is the whole reason our grid scans are included rather than metered.
Which one fits you?
Pick Semrush if
- You already pay for Semrush and want AI tracking beside your keyword work.
- You run SEO for a brand or across many clients.
- You need Perplexity coverage or a full technical site audit.
- Backlinks, content and paid research matter as much as local visibility.
Pick LocalSeen if
- You run one business, or a handful, and want one predictable bill.
- You want Claude covered; Semrush does not list it.
- You want map rank and AI answers in the same dashboard, not two add-ons.
- You want to be told what to fix, not handed a dashboard to interpret.
